We delivered a hygiene kit to 105 families to address the lack of water and sanitation due to the destruction of facilities.
Objectives
- Hand out 105 family hygiene kits and 105 children hygiene kits to families in the most affected communities to avoid the spread of infectious diseases and promote basic hygiene practices.

On the ground
Those affected by the earthquake and tsunami were left without access to water and sanitation facilities and with severe hygiene problems.
On September 28, 2018, in the Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi, an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale affected Palu, Mamuju and Donggala. The earthquake and the subsequent tsunami, with three to five-meter high waves that penetrated the mainland caused more than 2,250 deaths (Data obtained on the 23rd October, according to the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management).
The earthquake and the tsunami devastated most of the water access and sanitation facilities, causing thousands of displaced people to lose their homes, crops and livestock.
In addition to the loss of access to water and sanitation, in these cases there is always a severe hygiene problem that needs to be solved to avoid the spread of infectious diseases that affect children in particular.
